God’s great goal is to bring people from all nations, languages and ethnic groups to know Him. Jesus passed on His mission to save lost people to the Church, telling them to spread the good news about Him throughout their own region and across the whole world. Mission is therefore at the core of what Church is, and Glenabbey seeks to be part of God’s mission to the world.
We engage as a church in mission beyond our immediate area in a number of ways, which are listed below.

Short Term Missions
We encourage our members to take some time to travel to other parts of the world and help with missionaries or churches in different countries. There are many organisations who make this possible and offer various opportunities for folks to serve in a range of ways. If you are thinking that 2012 might be the year you could do something please contact us at stm@glenabbey.org.uk so we can help and support you in that.

Claire is currently on a Short Term Mission with SIM in Zambia.
From mid August 2010 Claire has taken up a teaching position in Mukinge Hill Academy in North West province for one year. Mukinge is located in a rural setting, approx. 5 Km from Kasempa and 25o Km from Solwezi, the nearest big town! The school has three teachers and is headed by Janet Parke (from UK) and currently has 69 pupils between the ages of 5 and 11 years.
BREAKING NEWS
Claire will be extending her time in Zambia for another year. Here is an excerpt from her latest prayer letter to explain.
"Since the turn of the year I have been thinking and praying about what
might lie ahead for me in 2011 and beyond. As you know from my emails
I am really enjoying my time here in Zambia and feel like God is
challenging me and stretching me through my teaching role at Mukinge
Hill Academy. Over a number of months I felt increasingly sure that
God was prompting me to stay here a wee bit longer! Various needs and
opportunities were brought to my attention and suddenly the number of
months I had left to be involved in these things seemed very short!
So last month I applied to my school in Northern Ireland for an
extenstion to my career break. I'm pleased to say that the Board of
Governors met last night and approved the extension for a further
year, once again realeasing me, God willing, to continue serving here
in Zambia."
